Your next meeting to agree local priorities will be on;

No date/time specified

A next public consultation meeting date is to be confirmed. This meeting is open to all members of the public within the Acle Neighbourhood and will provide an opportunity for local residents to voice their concerns about issues in their area which affect them, which in turn dictates which issues become our main focus.

Actions being taken for Acle Neighbourhood

Priorty 1 - To tackle an on-going problem of young people behaving anti-socially in and around the play area on Willoughby Way, Rackheath.

We are receiving a great deal of complaints from local residents about young people gathering in the park and drinking, riding mopeds, being noisey and generally acting in an anti-social way into the early hours of the morning.

Actions

  • Increase the number of officers patrolling in the area on foot and by bike.
  • Talk to local shopkeepers to warn them to be vigilant in selling alcohol and cigarettes to underage young people.
  • Talk to local young people and make them aware of the problems they are causing and that we will be putting a stop to it.
  • Deal appropriately with anyone who chooses to ignore our advice and continues to behave anti-socially. This means that we will be issuing Stop Search forms to young people and letters to their parents.
  • Give details of any offenders to Vic Hannant, the Anti-Social Coordinator for Broadland District Council.

Priority 2 - To tackle on-going reports of criminal damage and anti-social behaviour in the area surrounding Brundall Memorial Hall

A great deal of residents are complaining about large groups of young people gathering in the area around Brundall Memorial Hall, mainly in the car park itself. We are told that they causing a general noise disturbance to local residents by racing mopeds around the car park, leaving litter around and covering the area in graffiti. Other criminal damage is occuring in the area and this may also be caused by local young people.

Actions

  • Increase the number of officers patrolling the area by car, bike and on foot and bring our Road Traffic Police Officers to the area to talk to young people about using mopeds safely and acceptably.
  • Talk to young people to make the aware of the problems they are causing and increase their respect for the area they live in and for local residents.
  • Warn local shopkeepers about selling alcohol and cigarettes to underage young people.
  • Deal appropriately with those who continue to cause problems.
  • Keep the Brundall Memorial Hall Committee updated on our progress and let them know of any concerns that we have from talking to young people.
  • Give details of offenders to Vic Hannant, the Anti-Social Behaviour Coordinator at Broadland District Council.

Priority 3 - General speeding concerns in villages

Many residents are concerned about vehicles speeding through their villages. This issue is raised at most of the meetings we have with residents as well as at Parish meetings.

Actions

  • Involve Road Traffic Police Officers
  • Carry out speed checks at the locations where residents are concerned there is speeding.
  • Work with local parish councils to help identify problem areas, encourage local councillors to attend speed checks and encourage them to get involved with the Speed Watch Initiative.
