No Tolerance Night

Posted: 23rd Oct 2008

On Friday 17th October Fakenham Safer Neighbourhood Team including Police Officer, Police Community Support Officers and Special Constabulary Officers policed Fakenham Town on foot between 7.30pm and midnight adopting a No Tolerance approach.

The nine officers dealt with several matters including seizing alcohol from underage drinkers including one full bottle of ‘white lightning' and a bottle of squash with unknown alcohol mixed with it, possible vodka.

Three motorists were given fixed penalty tickets for parking offences in the Market Place.

Following a number of reported incidents involving the discharging of fireworks 6 stop and search routines were carried out with 6 directions to leave (Section 27), which is a warning not to enter Fakenham Town centre (as defined by a map) within the next 48hrs.

Several groups of youths (often about 20-30 of them) were spoken to about their behaviour and noise before being moved on from areas of associated with Anti Social Behaviour, the drivers of several vehicles were also stopped and advised on their manner for driving.

The town was clear from group of youths by  2230hrs.  This was a successful initiative and is likely to be repeated.
