Your Car is at Risk If YOU Behave in an Anti Social Manner

Great Yarmouth has for many years attracted car enthusiasts keen to show off their pride a joy to other enthusiasts. Unfortunately a small minority do engage in activities with their vehicles that cause alarm, distress or annoyance to other road users and residents.
Marine Parade by the Jetty and South Beach Parade at Great Yarmouth have been focal points in recent years for the enthusiasts. Approximately 5 years Road Policing carried out a number of initiatives including an organised Cruise Event that assisted in reducing the problem.
The next generation of enthusiasts are now appearing and causing a number of residents in the South Beach Parade area to complain to their Safer Neighbourhood Team.
Police Superintendent Jim Smerdon and partners from Norfolk County Council, Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Anti Social behaviour Co-ordinator have adopted a problem solving approach to the complaints.
This Sunday evening will witness the first phase of the initiative. Officers from the South Yarmouth Safer Neighbourhood Team and Road Policing Officers will be issuing post card size "Do and Don't" reminder and advice as to how the enthusiasts actions can affect others. It also carries a warning that if they choose to ignore the advice and their vehicle is used in a manner causing alarm, distress or annoyance they could lose it.
Following the issue of these warning cards enforcement action including the seizure of vehicles and equipment will take place the following week.
Superintendent Jim Smerdon said "A small number of people cause considerable noise and distress to local residents. Over this weekend we intend to make these people aware that this behaviour causes distress, after that we intend to enforce the legislation as this type of behaviour is unacceptable".
